Mountain Marmoset Conservation Program

At Kiezebrink, we believe that responsible nutrition and conservation go hand in hand. That’s why we support the Mountain Marmoset Conservation Program (MMCP) — a vital initiative working to protect two endangered marmoset species in Brazil: the Buffy tufted-ear marmoset (Callithrix aurita) and the Buffy headed marmoset (Callithrix flaviceps).

These species are under severe threat due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and hybridization caused by invasive marmoset species released into the wild. With over 95% of their natural habitat already lost, urgent action is needed to prevent extinction.

How Kiezebrink Contributes

Through the sale of our DK Tamarin & Marmoset diet, we donate to conservation projects coordinated by the EAZA Callitrichid TAG. A portion of these funds directly supports MMCP’s field research and monitoring efforts. Our contribution enabled the purchase of GPS data loggers, essential tools for tracking marmoset movements and understanding their behavior and interactions with invasive species.

This data helps researchers develop informed strategies to protect native populations and restore ecological balance in the South-eastern Atlantic Rainforest.

Why It Matters

The Mountain Marmoset Conservation Program not only focuses on in-situ conservation but also includes education, community engagement, and collaboration with local and international institutions. By supporting MMCP, Kiezebrink helps ensure that these unique primates have a future in the wild — and that the biodiversity of their habitat is preserved for generations to come.
